What is an Affiliate ?

An affiliate is an Internet publisher  (such as a webmaster, a blogger, or ezine owner) who enters a ‘partnership’ with a business to promote their services or products online in exchange for a commission.

The business provides their affiliates with a unique tracking code that records each click and affiliate sale (or action) made by a visitor who arrives at the business website through the affiliate’s links.

Affiliate revenue is typically earned based on a ‘Cost per action’ or CPA. For example an affiliate commission might be paid  for each subscription, purchase, registration.
