You likely have many quality affiliate programs that could be earning you revenue – if you take some time to utilize your old blog post content. Search engines have already ‘indexed’ your old posts and by placing relevant affiliate banners within these posts you can capture targeted visitors and lead them right into your affiliate ads.

Don’t limit your affiliate plans to sidebar banners. Banners are one of the least effective forms of advertisements UNLESS they are very strategically placed within related content.

Why do you as an affiliate NEED to be in compliance?

As an affiliate you represent your merchants. Which means merchants will hold you liable for Can Spam issues. Most Merchants will specifically list Can Spam compliance as a requirement to partnering with their affiliate program.

1. Don’t use false or misleading header information. Your “From,” “To,” “Reply-To,” and routing information – including the originating domain name and email address – must be accurate and identify the person or business who initiated the message.

2. Don’t use deceptive subject lines. The subject line must accurately reflect the content of the message.

3. Identify the message as an ad. The law gives you a lot of leeway in how to do this, but you must disclose clearly and conspicuously that your message is an advertisement.
4. Tell recipients where you’re located. Your message must include your valid physical postal address. This can be your current street address, a post office box you’ve registered with the U.S. Postal Service, or a private mailbox you’ve registered with a commercial mail receiving agency established under Postal Service regulations.
