Creating niche content for your blog

By

Promoting affiliate programs to a narrow demographic means ensuring your blog contains thoughtful, unique content relative to your audience. I am guessing if you are at Her Affiliate your audience is women. Is that enough ?

In order for your affiliate programs to convert, the affiliate programs you choose to run need to be relevant to your audience and the content of your blog. What does this mean ? Having an audience of ‘women’ is not enough. As an affiliate, you should consider narrowing your content to a specific category. Or at least limit your affiliate ads to the posts containing relevant content and keywords.

Affiliate programs for baby items might e narrowed down to ‘expecting moms’. Consider running a series on your blog on ‘getting ready for baby’. (Every affiliate should have the IN Series WordPress plugin.) Or a variety of posts talking about your birth plan and experience on which you limit your affiliate ads to baby products.

A series on how you considered your childcare options and experiences would be great for childcare related affiliate programs such as GreatAupair.

Check your main page and side bars, how many affiliate banners are you running that are not really specific to your main page content ? How are the affiliate ads on your side bars converting?

It’s not about the clicks it’s about the affiliate sales. Your side bar space may be better suited to SEO, networking opportunities, or if you have a very topic specific blog (such as scrapping) then some craft and scrapping affiliate programs would be a good fit.

Affiliate programs convert better when the ads are relevant to the content on the page that your user has searched for.
